We are seeking a Project Engineering Manager with extensive Process Engineering experience in refinery and onshore/offshore oil and gas projects to join our Abu Dhabi Operations, UAE.
Reports To
The Project Engineering Manager will report to the Head of Engineering Management.
Job Overview
The Project Engineering Manager oversees and develops overall project execution strategies alongside Project Management, ensuring seamless interdisciplinary collaboration. They coordinate with Heads/Managers of Engineering Disciplines to meet project KPIs, including safety, gross margin, schedule, and quality targets set by the Company and its Customers. This role leads project estimates during bidding, manages feedback and lessons learned throughout the sales–delivery–sales cycle, and facilitates smooth transitions between sales and project delivery phases.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Lead and manage a multi-discipline Engineering Team
· Oversee High-Value execution centers
· Handle complex Project Scope and contract management
· Understand project sequences, activities, deliverables, and contracts for Engineering Disciplines at any phase
· Own the engineering schedule and progress for all disciplines
· Ensure the Quality Management System supports deliverable preparation and execution methods
· Manage Technical Engineering Disciplines and related Scope
· Issue instructions to advance work and resolve conflicting requirements
· Challenge working methods and deliverables, ensuring compliance with project scope
· Develop engineering input for the project schedule, drive team to meet milestones and KPIs
· Identify and resource Design Verification requirements
· Implement robust change management processes within the Engineering team
· Address Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) issues appropriately
· Identify risks and apply mitigations
· Act as deputy for the Project Manager when needed
· Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Energy, and Environmental objectives
Preferred Skills & Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering
Minimum 20 years' experience
· Must have a background in basic engineering / FEED / licensor engineering in major refinery units (CDU/VDU, FCC, RFCC, Hydrocracker, Hydrotreaters, CCR/Platformer, Delayed Coker, etc.)
· Minimum 5 years recent experience as an Engineering Manager on a major ADNOC project
· Balance of technical and management experience at relevant level and position
· Experience with an understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety
· Broad and extensive knowledge of engineering theories and techniques and a high level of skill in application of this knowledge in the management of the engineering function
· Capable of representing business and client to business associates in a professional manner
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing people at all levels of the organization
· Skilled in forecast planning for people resources
· Able to implement and embed standards and processes to effect delivery of engineering excellence
· Current knowledge of industry and technology development within area of expertise
· Able to carry out audit and incident investigations Good Project management skills
· Strong track record in Engineering Management and leading multi-discipline teams
· Commercial acumen for managing fixed-price lump sum and reimbursable contracts
· Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
· Fluent in English
